Disney dropped the live action Moana teaser, and the ocean really said let's do this again. We get our first look at Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana, stepping right into that iconic shoreline moment with the shell, the waves, the whole vibe that makes you want to book a flight to anywhere with palm trees. And yes, Dwayne Johnson is back as Maui, very committed to his lifelong hobby of appearing in films that involve boats, islands, and humidity.
The teaser keeps things familiar on purpose. Same opening, same energy, same legendary "I am Moana" setup, just translated into real-world scenery. It looks beautiful, but so did the animated version, so everyone is kind of squinting at their screens, wondering why we're already doing a remake of a film that came out when our phones still had decent battery health.

Fan reactions are all over the place. Some people are thrilled to see Moana in a new format. Others are giving the trailer that slow blink that says I didn't ask for this, but I guess we're here now. The comments sections are basically a group chat where half the people are screaming and the other half are eating chips and observing.
Either way, Moana is back on the water, the ocean is doing its dramatic swell thing, and Disney clearly believes we're ready to set sail again. Whether you're excited or just mildly confused, the girl is voyaging, and we're watching.
